Poetry: “In Memoriam”

My grandmother’s funeral is today, so I wanted to have a suitable poem.

In Memoriam

Memories float up
Like bubbles
Unbidden, see them rise
A light that shines
On tapestries
Woven through the years

Digging deeper
In that soil
You find a cruel edge
Perfection is impossible
Even roses
Have their thorns

Take it all
And gather them
As colors in their pots
Paint a picture
Of the lost
Hang it up there, on the wall
