Poetry: “Adult”

More musings on growing up.

With years now passed
I stand now at
Upon the bridge
Of adulthood
For year was told
Of change to come
To buckle up
And change my ways
To push aside
All childish things
Walk more straight
As adults should
But now I say
With fervor hot
That this is such
A nasty lie
For days of fun
Can be so few
Why toss aside
What gives you joy?
Throw not aside
All childish things
An adult’s life
Need not be dull
