Poetry: “Ice”

Yeah, it’s the worst part of winter.

A bane and a curse
This time of the year
No footstep is safe
When temperatures drop

To treat it with sand
Might make you feel safe
But when it starts melting
That’s when you’re deceived

Such treachery there
When day turns more cold
Each surface a danger
For wandering feet

So wander with care
When you venture out
The ice glitters pretty
But oh, it can hurt
