Poetry: “Forest fire”

We’ve had a very try and hot July this year, which has resulted in a number of terrifying forest fires, which caused me to think.

Forest fire

Behold this fair reminder
That we cannot control
All that which nature gives us
That comes to us a boon

We fancy us the rulers
Of both land and sea
How carelessly we treat them
Our avarice grown large

Yea even broken weather
We turn to with a shrug
Our habits that be value
Are worth the most of all

So witness there the just reward
Of trifling with that force
Where spark from human handling
Births a fire to consume
