Poetry: “Dragons”

Can’t believe I haven’t written a poem like this before.

***~***~***~***

Dragons

Here there be dragons
If you venture
Off the map
They come in many sizes
With claws that rend and tear

Spreading through our stories
Everywhere
You might look
Some that fly and some that don’t
All are mighty to behold

They tickled imaginations
Of the people
In the past
Birthed from finding mighty bones
What could such a creature be

Here then there be dragons
Snaking bodies
Fire breath
In our collective minds
They’ll keep living, on and on
