Poetry: “Unruly thoughts”

Rambling, slightly personal.

Unruly thoughts

Here are all my unruly thoughts laid out to bare
Like a weathered blanket
Fraying at the edges
Let your wandering hands
Find the old stains
Which never cleaned up right
The holes
Made from worried hands
Tearing and poking
See the patterns that make no sense
When viewed from up close
But meaning can be discerned
When observed from a distance
Where all the defects
Are much harder to spot
The flaws
Made near invisible
But know they are still there
Hidden in the the swirling marks and stripes
The pathways of my mind
All of them together making one imperfect whole
