Poetry: “Remembrance Day”

This was written on the correct day at least. 😛

***~***~***~***

Remembrance Day

Near a century since the day
11th hour, 11th day
The war that changed
The way we thought
We hoped would be the last we fought

Dots of red on all lapels
Little poppies, everywhere
To be reminders
To make sure
We will not make those same mistakes

The fields of crosses still exist
Those solemn signs of years ago
They call to us
They call in vain
I fear mankind loves wars too much
