Poetry: “Black Friday”

One day late, yes, but inspiration strikes when it will…

Black Friday

Never in my life before
Have I hated one phrase more
Those two words
Thrown in my face
In the papers
On the web

Screaming at me to cave in
Rush around with head cut off
Teasing me
About such finds
All those items
I must get

America has brought us much
But this one thing I truly loathe
This holiday
That only means
Fill up the pockets
Of the rich
