Poetry: “Fall’s approach”

It is not only coming, at this point, surely it is already here in some shape or form.

Fall’s approach

It comes on silent paws
And leaving morning mist
Chill breath misting
In its wake
And spreading frost
Upon the grass
Its frozen touch
With icy claws
That sneaks beneath your shirt
Leaves its touch
On leaves and grass
Slowly drains away the green
It saps away
So slowly
The sunlight’s blesses warmth
‘Til like a Netflix fireplace
It might glow
But share no warmth
And when its work is over
Just as quietly
It leaves
But leaves the door wide open
For old Winter
To step in
