Poetry: “History speaks”

And we should all listen.

History speaks

It speaks
To us
In crowded hallways
Teeming crowds
The tourist trails
Ceiling arches
High above you
Whisper in
The chime of bells
It hovers all
Around the ruins
Dusty ground
Millennia old
How it echoes
In the windows
Churches sit
On windy hills
Castles standing
With the weight of
All that history
Kept inside
Feel it seep
Up from the stonework
All those voices
All the years
Hear it speak
The voice of history
Begging us
To not forget
