Poetry: “Ye olde England”

Attempting to find the true heart of a country.

Ye olde England

Traversing beyond
London town
With skyscrapers
And underground
To fields and farms
The sheep that graze
Their woolly hides
Like tiny clouds
The villages
Of pretty stone
The pubs that serve
Great fish and chips
The churches old
And churchyards too
The gnarled old trees
Where dead men rest
The rivers running
To the sea
Where mighty cliffs
Abut the beach
The sun might seldom
Grace these parts
But still there’s beauty
In these lands
