Poetry: “Summer memories”

The remains of summers’ past.

Summer memories

As sunburns fade
And skin regains
Its former pallor
Do memories fade as well?

As winds pick up
And shake the trees
Dislodging yellowed leaves
Are memories thus cast off?

As cold morns bite
And pinch our cheeks
The sun’s glow pale and van
Are memories thus reduced?

Or do they grow
In opposition
Summer’s warmth
Brought forth anew
And memories blush
In brighter colors
Than colored trees outside
