Poetry: “Cosplay”

Written after I attended a convention a few weeks ago.

Putting on faces
Pulling on skins
Treading through hallways
Face in a grin
People that stop
And give you a look
For just this once
They see where you are
Waving and smiling
Giving you love
A strange new experience
To walk through the crowd

And then it all ends
When you take off that face
Pull off that skin
That surface you wore
A dream that you had
For a moment you were
Braver than usual
Walking those halls
