Poetry: “To a seamstress”

Going through a box left by my grandmother, who died before I was born.

***~***~***~***

To a seamstress

Fragments
Of a lifetime
Woven
In fabric
Knitted
Into woolen socks
Patterns cut
With utmost care
Darning needles
Poised to strike
Sweaters
All in pieces
Abandoned
In a box
Piles of yarn
On mothballs
A lifetime’s work
Unfinished
Cut tragically short
