Poetry: “On marathons”

Extreme sports attract certain people, I think…

On marathons

Mankind ever strives
For new mountains
To climb
Oceans to cross
Raising hurdles
To overcome
When life becomes
Too easy
Such torment
Without challenges
Life is empty
To them
Lace then up
Your running shoes
Then follow
In the path
Of ancient Greeks
Take to the street
Mile after mile
Prove yourself
A challenge
Makes you more alive
