Poetry: “Stacks”

Sorting, stacking, life.

I take my life
Pour it out in a pile
Sorting into
Different stacks
Divide into colors
Emotions felt
Things endured
And overcome
Finding the tears
The holes
And the stains
Trying to fix them
Can it be done?
Shuffle and sorting
How far should I go
How does one divide
The experience?
I linger
On softness
The sweet melodies
But hard as I try
They slip out
Of my grasp
I’m left with the piles
The stacks on my floor
I gather them up
Cram them back
In my head
