Poetry: “Sports mania”

Reflections on the beginning of soccer season (though it probably applies to other sports too :P).

Sports mania

Slowly it creeps
All over the land
The banners start waving
And the men start to march

They gather in groups
In such multitudes
Filling large places
Built just for them

Like Romans of old
They watch far below
Some people there running
After some ball

The ground starts to shake
With roars and the cheers
The ruckus keeps spreading
Even outside the games

It’s time to take notice
When the time’s drawing nigh
When the fans come on roaring
You’d best head on inside
