Poetry: “Rays”

Still in the mode where I pine for sunlight, any sunlight.

Turn my face
Towards the light
Like a flower
Drinking it all in
Letting it seep
Into my pores
Storing it deep
Within my body
Small pieces
Of sunlight
Vacuole spaces
Carried there
Like a camel
For those times
Of scarcity
Cloud enshrouded sky
Sunlight deprivation
How else
Would I survive?
