Poetry: “Variation”

Another poem on diversity.

***~***~***~***

Variation

Mankind comes
In so many flavors
Some more common
Than the rest
But even a vast carpet
Of wood anemones
Is not of uniform color
Some blush pink
Or purple
Their differences
Only enhancing the whole

In the same way
Humanity is thus enhanced
Because of variation
The color of our hair,
Eyes
And skin
Gender identity
And who we love

We make such a pretty carpet
Of flowers to behold
And our beauty is diminished
If some variety is lost

  1. This was really good. I like how you portrayed the beauty of mankind’s diversity so effortlessly! Everyone’s different and we should all realise that and learn to not just accept, but embrace differences 🙂
