Poetry: “The seagull”

A stranger sort of spring flavored poem.

The seagulls

I heard the gulls this morning
Saw them wheeling up above
Such feelings were awakened
That I did now know I had

For this was proof as clear as day
That winter’s backing off
When seagulls leave their ocean homes
To dwell among us men

As signs of spring go, it is odd
But just as sweet to see
When seagulls become heralds
That fair spring is on her way
