Poetry: “Hubris”

Just some idle reflections…

Self worth in excess
Their life
An endless parade
A celebration of their glory
Their accomplishments
Lined up
In rows upon rows
Enshrined in glass cases
What faults exist
Pushed far into the past
When in fact it festers
Right beneath the surface
They view themselves as older
Far older than their years
An accomplished leader
That keep throwing stones
In glass houses
Blind to their imperfections
Giving lectures
To those
Who saw them in their childish play
Not too long ago

May this demagogue
Not build themselves up so high
That they bring us with them
When they fall
