Poetry: “Resolutions”

Veering off into slightly political territory again and touching upon the meaning of the words “democracy”.

Resolutions

Waiting for
The other shoe to drop
And being met
By only silence
Raising expectations
And receiving nothing
But your empty hands

How to recover
When the laws of nature
Seem to have been
Cast aside?
What logic and decency
Decrees to be
The proper resolution

Do you stew then
In silent solitude
Clutching your anger
Like a precious stone
Or do you seek support
Companions
That fan those flames higher

Sometimes resolutions
Must come from
All the people in the crowds
