Poetry: “Dead mail”

Letting some of my day job affect my writing. 😛

Dead mail

Discarded letters
With nowhere to go
Packages wrapped up
And left in a pile

Recipient unknown
Or just moved away
The lack of a sender
Sealed all their fates

By playing detective
Some few can be saved
But far too many
Are put to the side

Presents selected
By friends far away
Or holiday cards
All never received

They sit all alone
So forlorn and sad
Because a sender
Forgot their address
