Poetry: “Doldrums”

And back to more serious stuff.

***~***~***~***

Doldrums

So weary am I
Of greyed out days
Muggy mornings
With slushy streets
Not winter truly
And yet not spring
Season limbo
Stuck in between
An impasse
Where sun’s in hiding
Hides her face
In shame
Though who can blame her
With our actions
Mayhaps this is
All well deserved
A punishment
For all indifference
All the times
We turned away
From cruelty and horror
But still I hope
For mercy
A swift release
From these doldrums
Before my soul
Withers away
