Poetry: “Neurodivergent”

Some more talk about brains and how they might work, social behavior, that sort of stuff.

To live your life
A square peg
In a round hole
Chafing along the edges
A job unto itself

Some times the rewards
Are worth the effort
Making connections
Moving a little ahead
On life’s thorny path

But the struggle
It wearies you
And it feels nice
To just hang out
With pegs shaped just like you

In those moments
Of not trying to fit in
Or curled up in the comfort
Of companionable solitude

But as they say
Variety can truly be
The spice of life
Even I contribute to
The mosaic of mankind
