Poetry: “In memoriam”

A natural sort of reflection that came upon me after all the people lost last year.

In memoriam

Names forever etched in stone
Their voices echo
In the spaces
Where minds will wander
When dark clouds crowd out the sun
Leaving foot prints
Deep in the snow
A reminder of their passage
That no wind can erase
Towers raised by hands no longer here
That beg of us to notice
To pay tribute
And follow in their wake
To be like them and etch our names
In the solid stone
To have our voices echo
In those gloomy spaces
To leave our footprints
Deep and wide
And raise our towers
For those we leave behind
