Poetry: “Ghost of Christmas Past”

Today is seen as the end of Christmas in my country, so I thought this would be an appropriate subject.

Ghost of Christmas Past

I am the Ghost of Christmas Past
My bones left discarded
As millions of dried out trees
An enormous funeral pyre
Thrown out decorations
Littering landfills
Along with huge mounds
Of crumpled up wrapping paper
Dead flowers by the thousands
And spoiled leftovers
Left rotting at the back of the fridge
All of this is my legacy
Along with overdrawn credit cards
My final haunting of the masses
That worship me
But once a year
Then throw my corpse out to the wolves
