Poetry: “Coldness”

Some more reflections on the state of our world…

Infectious like some
Plague of illness
Deadly to the soul
Sinking slowly
Permeating into
Hearts turned bitter
Looks like ice
Stepping over beggars
Caring not of plights
Of fellow men
Hands dug deep
Into pockets with
Their wads of cash
Seeing not the
Outstretched hands
And empty stomachs
Refugees turned villains
In their minds
Shell shocked children
Pass unnoticed
Before their eyes
Turned instead
Towards own needs
And desires
Society thus sundered
Lost its heart
Naught but coldness
In wandering solitude
