Poetry: “Bravery”

I started with the word “bravery” and what it means to me. The first things that popped into my head were Rosa Parks and Kaepernick, the American Football player who refused to stand for the national anthem, and then I continued from there.

To stand up
Or sitting down
Go against what some deem wise

Break a law
That seems unjust
Help the ones that dare not speak

Take a gamble
Take a chance
Take that largest leap of faith

Seek the path
That no one’s tread
Find the answers no one’s found

Face a challenge
Something new
Growth comes when we push ourselves

Be much bigger
Than you are
As long as you protect someone
