Poetry: “Deniers”

A little poem about the strange people called “climate change deniers”.

Gazing at the falling rain
And seeing nothing wrong
December coming
Without snow
Is not part of a trend
Because last year was snowy
That means it’s all just fine
Ignoring all those summers
One hotter than the next
Droughts and forest fires
Don’t get under their skin
Neither does the records
Of melting glacial ice
Not shots of devastation
When another storm rolls by
Hurricanes and typhoons
Weather systems pumping through
Leaving places under water
With some others drying out
But all of this means nothing
The facts are all ignored
Because you see, just last year
Our winter was bitter cold
