Poetry: “Glass half full”

Some personal musings.

Glass half full

Though I am a pessimist
All shades of grey and black
I try to change my point of view
A little at a time
To let a little optimism
Creep into my heart
Like how it might be cold outside
But inside my home it’s warm
And that I have a home at all
A cat curled by my side
That I can eat my fill each day
And clean water from the tap
Water I can bathe in
And water I can drink
So as I fill my glass up
That modern miracle
Before I take a sip of it
I think, “Why, it’s half full”.
