Poetry: “Autumn reflection”

The turning of the seasons that cannot be stopped, though perhaps… altered by humanity and our polluting influence.

Autumn reflections

Air as crisp and fresh
As newly washed linens
Trees streaked with yellow
And oranges
As an aging woman
Masking her greys
With brights colors
Milk chocolate mustache
Whipped cream stains
To make a mother frown
Rain that’s soaking
Chill and cold
Musty and earthy
As an old basement
Filled with childhood’s boxes
Red berries and apples
Heavy on the trees
Weighed down
As a pregnant woman
Carrying her burden with dignity
And in the morning
The frost makes the world gleam
Like precious stones dropped from the sky
