Poetry: “Bicycle”

More commentary on observations made.

I want to ride a bicycle
Through the city
Dodging cars
And red lights
Up one way streets
Cutting across the road
Swiftly moving
From A to B
Helmet keeps me safe

But far sweeter to ride
In the country
Past golden fields of wheat
Smelling of grass
And buttery rape seed
A wink of gleaming lakes
Gravel roads crunching
Under my tires
Stopping under an oak tree
In peaceful rippling shade
