Poetry: “Harvest preserves”

A poem that sort of ties into yesterday’s.

Harvest preserves

Now is the time
For nature’s own sweets
Picked from the branches
Of bushes and trees

All gathered up
A fine treasure trove
Such sparkling jewels
That summer has brought

Making them last
Beyond summer’s end
Preserve them for later
In jars and in jugs

Boiling the jam
And sweet marmalade
Natural products
For cold autumn morns

Yes even in winter
When snow piles on thick
A nice scoop of jelly
Brings summer right back
