Poetry: “Mosquitoes”

Okay, another summery poem, featuring one of the annoying aspects of the season.

Those little vandals
Arriving in droves
Amazon warriors
Out for your blood

Ruining evenings
Spoiling your sleep
Filling the air
With that high pitched whine

They can’t be defeated
Though you might try
After you kill one
Two more takes their place

Like members of Hydra
There’s always one more
Buzzing somewhere
Not far from your head
