Poetry: “Escapism”

I suppose this one has some form of relation to the poetry from most recent days, but I do not consider it to be as connected as the other ones.

Flee from the world
With sharp edges
Into soothing fantasy
Engaging your emotions
Made dull by hardship
Protective measure
Fiction brings catharsis
A book with beloved characters
To identify with
To root for
That lift your spirits
Above your current worries
To spend a few hours
Engaged in troubles not your own
That can be switched off
With the press of a remote
A temporary measure
Not a cure to mental hardship
But a balm
A way to cope
And encourages the imagination
