Poetry: “Languages”

Another topic that fascinates, the way we communicate and what I heard once about how smaller, indigenous languages are slowly going extinct.

Sounds evolved and changed
Throughout so many years
When man have wandered
Far and wide
To spread throughout this world

Like animals that thus evolve
To change with where they live
So has the languages of man
Thus altered
With the times

In isolated groups we spoke
Our private special words
Thus it remained until some men
Grew bold
And wanted more

Then certain tongues began to spread
As mankind wandered on
To seek more space to live and breathe
This language
It spread too

Now witness this slow dying
Of mankind’s different tongues
Though billions live upon this world
Our languages
Grow fewer still
