Poetry: “Discontent”

A moody little poem from me, this first day of July. And a Happy Canada Day to my Canadian followers! 🙂

I arrive then at the summer
Of my discontent
With nerves laid bare
And ragged
My mind quite ill at ease

Like bears in fall I retreat
Inside my den
My walls raised high
And solid
Impatient with the world

The rain that patters down
A drum beat
Harsh and unpleasant
To my ears
I shiver inside my skin

Naught but time can fix
What ails me
These ill humors that ail me
Will pass
Like clouds give way to sun
