Poetry: “Conscience”

The word I learned to spell thanks to the movie “As good as it gets.” A poem with a message.

Buying a conscience
With dollars and cents
Writing out checks
To shut off your mind

Donating money
Charity drives
Turning away from
The beggars outside

Promoting green living
A low mileage car
While you air travel
And keep buying new phones

Donate some money
To some refugee camps
While fearing arrivals
Of them where you live

Read up on the issues
Politics and laws
Then shut off the news
When the protests are on
