Poetry: “Honeysuckle”

One of those flowers I associate with summer.

Honeysuckle memories
Drift in on the breeze
Summer winds awaken
Moments in the shade
Mingling with the pleasant scent
Of freshly oiled wood
Music from a wind chime
And coffee in my cup

Honeysuckle summers
Spent close by the sea
The wild plants growing tightly
Winding round the rocks
Crevasses with nesting gulls
And heather in full bloom
The salty breeze caress my skin
And the cool spray of the waves

Honeysuckle bringing
So much to the front
Scents so intermingled
With all that summer brings
Not just a pretty flower
Growing on its vine
When honeysuckle memories
Bring honeysuckle dreams
