Poetry: “Summer longing”

It’s something I notice a lot over here, though when you have such a long dreary winter…

Summer longing

Peel out of your clothes
Stretch t’wards the sun
Craning your necks
Like sunflower stalks

Sprawl on the grass
In silent repose
All of your focus
On greeting the sun

Flee t’wards the sea
Sparkling and blue
Dip in your toes
In waves much too cold

Cook all your meals
On barbecue stoves
Dripping and sizzling
With billowing smoke

Huddle in packs
Our on the curb
Armies at table
All day and all night
