Poetry: “Neurology”

Some more musing on how my brain works.

Try not to contain me
For I’m bursting at the seams
Going supernova
Almost every day

Ticking like a time bomb
Trigger finger pulse
Heart that’s beating like a drum
Great hormonal surge

Skin’s so very porous
Osmosis with the world
Everything can soak right in
Deep into my bones

Emotions on a dial
That goes right up to ten
An earthquake through my body
That makes me want to flail

Then when all is said and done
All my reserves are spent
Retreating off into my den
Of blankets and my cat
