Poetry: “Wood anemone”

Spring themed again, featuring a beloved flower. 🙂

Wood anemone

You come in spring in such great droves
The ground’s all covered up
With precious petals snowy white
That beam up to the sun

In childhood I would romp and play
I’d pick you in bouquets
To bring in a reminder
Of springtime bright and new

Even in my adult years
I wait for your first buds
They are for me the surest sign
That spring has come to stay

To me you are quite precious
You woodland anemone
Because you’re so resilient
I can’t not be inspired
