Poetry: “Fire”

Fire taps into something really ancient in all of us, going back all the way to our first human ancestors that walked the plains of Africa. Both fascinating and terrifying.

This force of nature that has been
A boon for all mankind
For untold years it has been there
A tool that lights our way

Yet there’s always been a threat
In the flickers of a flame
Fire will never quite be tamed
That we must not forget

The warm light of a fire
Can save our life and limb
But if we are not careful
It will devour us

So resist all temptation
To let your guard down now
A fire must demand respect
For a perfect partnership
