Poetry: “Thaw”

This should be happening everywhere on the northern hemisphere at this point in time!

The sun laps greedily at the snow
Warm tongue turning ice into water
Winds come from the south
They beg their share as well

Slowly it devours it
Those rays they tear up holes
Where snow once lay like a blanket
Tufts of grass shyly shows itself

Its ravenous hunger never ending
The sun wont stop until its gone
Shoving snow into its mouth
And sucks all ice away
