Poetry: “Nordic noir”

A poem reflecting on the popular (and world famous) literature genre of my home country.

Nordic noir

Dripping wet
In darkness dwelling
Characters with
morals darkened
Stalking parliament
And streets
And board rooms
Everywhere a villain
Shades of grey
And black and blues
Corpses strewn out
Back alleys
And gallerias
Making statements
Puzzle pieces
Painted out in
Bloody gore
Heroes, heroines
Are troubled
Quick to anger
Quick to drink
Rocking to their
Own foundations
Try to do
What’s good
What’s right
At the altar
Of the justice
They believe
Will save us all
And save themselves
