Poetry: “Aftermath”

This poem was inspired by the movie “Carol”.

The remains of a romance
A crumpled scented note
Perfume that’s still lingering
Hanging in the air

Gloves left on a counter
A choice left up to chance
Memories of sparkling eyes
And lips curled in a smile

Miles then traveled, memories shared
Days kept stretching on
The time when it was you and her
Your bodies freely shared

Life if not just up to you
Isolation is a dream
And sometimes our choices
Aren’t completely up to you
