Acrostic poem: “Winter solstice”

Written near the winter solstice last year.

***~***~***~***

Winter solstice

Wearied are we of the dark
It weighs heavy on our minds
Nothing cheers us like the sun
Tempting us when it appears
Every day with some sunlight
Relish it with all our might

So we come to that one day
Of the year when darkness ends
Light so dwindled rallies back
Sun will shine a little more
Though darkness will fade but slow
In our hearts we feel it go
Connected to our ancestors
Eagerly we celebrate
