Poetry: “Resolutions”

And here we are, a brand new year has dawned! Have you perhaps made a resolution for the new year?

New year dawning with the sun
Rising slowly across the land
Blinking at the carnage
Of New Years spent so well

With the buzz of liquor gone
Shameful memories doth fade
Except for all those solemn vows
A promise how to change yourself

Get a gym card, travel more
See your friends from far away
Save more money in the bank
Or just perhaps not drink so much

Resolutions fueled by
The buzz and joy of New Years Eve
Standing with a group of friends
No one wants to be left out

Then as January fades
Slowly into February
Resolutions that were hard
Might slowly fade away as well
