Poetry: “October”

I suppose I was a little influenced by the users on Twitter going for spooky avatars and such this month.

Arrived here, October
The spookiest month
When leaves turn to color
And gently fall down

When darkness grows thicker
Like cream whipped up hard
And mind starts to play tricks
With shadows it sees

Where our souls, they wander
Back to ancient times
When losing the sunlight
Meant oh, so much more

A time to remember
Those who’ve passed away
Light candles and fires
To chase ghosts away

Well met then, October
When tricksters doth rule
And fall’s chill is chased off
With candles and spice
